Dr. Seree Nonthasoot is a Governor and the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Stock Exchange of Thailand. He also serves as a board member of the Government Pension Fund of Thailand and the Chair of its Corporate Governance Committee. He has been a key player in the mainstreaming of ESG principles in Thailand and ASEAN. In his previous position as the Representative of Thailand to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (2013-2018), he initiated the Bangkok Business and Human Rights Week that included the Interregional Dialogue on Business and Human Rights which brought to the fore the essential nexus between institutional investors, ESG policies and human rights promotion and protection, especially in the ASEAN region. He has advised the Ministry of Justice on the development of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights and the creation of the national award for business enterprises that implement the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Apart from business and human rights, Dr. Seree is recognised for his works on disability rights, having led the inclusive process that culminated in the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025 that seeks to enhance the rights of persons with disabilities, and the projects pertaining to SDG16 on access to justice. He recently launched for ASEAN and AICHR the first thematic study on legal aid.
Dr. Seree has been with the Institute for Research and Development for Public Enterprises (IRDP.org) as its Senior Executive Vice President since 2012. He also teaches at various institutions, including Mahidol and Thammasat Universities, on the subject of human rights and law. He obtains his doctoral degree from Oxford University.
