Ms. Minoli Don

Minoli is an Attorney-at-Law with expertise on migrant/ refugee protection and human rights, counter trafficking and labour migration. Minoli has over a decade of experience in the development and legal sectors and has been instrumental in developing key policy documents, National Strategic Action Plans of the Government and legal curricula in State Universities. She is currently heading the Migrant Assistance Unit of IOM-UN Migration – Sri Lanka.

About this Speaker

Minoli Don is the National Programme Officer/Head of Migrant Assistance Unit, based in the IOM Country Office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Minoli oversees the Counter Trafficking, Safe Migration and Assisted Voluntary Return and re-integration Programmes at present. Her key areas of expertise include Migrant/Refugee protection and Human Rights, Counter Trafficking and Labour Migration. Minoli has extensive experience working with Government and Non-Government stakeholders and has been instrumental in developing key policy documents, National Strategic Action Plans, technical manuals, Guidelines and other resources pertaining to labour migration, Human Trafficking and Human Rights. She has further contributed to the development of modules/legal curricula in the national universities in Sri Lanka. She is an Attorney-at-Law graduated from Sri Lanka and holds a Masters degree in Law from Queen Mary, University of London, UK and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Minoli commenced her career at the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka and has also worked for renowned law firms in the UK and in Sri Lanka handling inter alia fundamental rights, personal injury and civil law matters. Minoli has extensive experience working in the development sector for UNHCR, ILO, EU and other renowned INGOs in the past.
