Aishah is a Professor of Corporate and Insolvency Law, Faculty of Law, National University of Malaysia(UKM) and a former Commissioner at the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) ( 2013- 2019). She is also the former Dean of the Faculty of Law, UKM (2009-2014) and former Deputy Dean (Academic, Research and International Relations) UKM (2000-2006). She was also the former legal advisor of UKM Holdings (2008-2013), the corporate arm of UKM. She obtained her LLB (Hons) from University of Malaya, Masters in Laws(LLM) from the University of Kent, and PhD in Law from University of London, United Kingdom. Her areas of specialization include company and corporate finance law, securities regulation, bankruptcy and insolvency law. Her teaching and research areas include Energy Law, environmental protection and human rights. During her Phd program in University of London in 1996, she was seconded to the law practices of Messrs Allen &Overy (Banking and Securities Department) and Messrs Travis, Smith and Braithwaite (Banking and Corporate Insolvency Unit), both of which were based in London.
Aishah also served as a member of the Steering Committee of the Malaysian Corporate Law Reform Committee (CLRC) (2007-2011) and member of the Review Committee of Bankruptcy and Corporate Insolvency Law of Malaysia, Insolvency Department, Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia. She has hold appointment of various positions and among other as Commission Member of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM)(2011- 2019) , former Executive Council Member of International Centre for Law and Legal Studies (I-CeLL), Attorney General Chambers(AGC)of Malaysia, Advisory Board, Malaysian Legal and Tax Information Centre (MLTIC) and former Executive Council Member of Legal Aid Foundation of Malaysia (YBGK). She was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Business Law and Taxation Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (2007) and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Malaysian Studies in Monash Asia Institute, Australia. She is also a Visiting Professor at the World University of Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, Uzbekistan (2012- now) and was appointed as aVisiting Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia(2008-2011) and a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS), University of London, United Kingdom (1996-2000).Currently she is a member of the Australian Corporate Law Teachers Association (ACLTA), INSOL Academics , INSOL Europe and a Fellow and Council Member of Academy Sciences of Malaysia (ASM).
